Description: Thermo Fisher Scientific currently has an opening for a Commodity Leader with a focus on electrical in our Madison, Wisconsin facility. The Commodity Leader will be responsible for the planning, organizing, and procurement of materials and services for Thermo Fisher Scientific Corporation. The Commodity Leader will also set procurement strategy for specific set of commodities assigned to leader; actively participate in various projects and productivity savings initiatives and demonstrate sound and logical sourcing principles to drive results; be closely involved with every aspect of supply chain management maintain reliable and cost competitive source of supply; set up and operate in a pull system environment and other lean manufacturing concepts and be responsible for the advancement of the Supplier Quality initiative.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in business or related field is required, plus a minimum of 10 years purchasing experience as a direct buyer. 2-5 years experience with providing supplier strategy decision making is a plus. Working knowledge of ERP and MRP principles and materials management is a must with SAP experience a plus. APICS and/or ISM certification and experience leading a group is preferred as well as experience in lean manufacturing and supplier quality processes. Must be able to read and send out ITAR regulated components to suppliers.

Job Title: Materials Manager
Description: Phillips Plastics Corporation® is a $260 million dollar privately held company serving original equipment manufacturers in the medical, consumer, and automotive industries around the globe. This position is located in our Eau Claire, WI facility.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide direction and leadership to the Customer Care group; including people management as follows: managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports and passing information up the management chain; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality.
  • Supervise purchasing, scheduling, and customer service; to include performance appraisal, training/development, coaching, counseling, and leading in accordance with the Phillips Plastics people process principles.
  • Maintain accurate finished goods, Work-In-Progress and raw material inventories. Work with purchasing and accounting departments to monitor ongoing cycle counting program. Coordinate annual physical inventory.
  • Maintain and develop systems to efficiently communicate and manage current order book as well as forecasting customer requirements to allow business unit planning, i.e. equipment, manpower, material, etc.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to ensure timely communication of pilot builds and new program launches.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years experience leading people in a manufacturing setting.
  • Associates degree in materials management or business; or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • APICS certification, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong knowledge of costing structure and scheduling
  • Leadership skills including ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Decision making and prioritization skills
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizing skills
